John R. Lucero is the Founder and Employing Broker of iMPAX Real Estate Group, a boutique commercial real estate brokerage serving property owners, investors, developers, businesses and organizations throughout the Denver metropolitan area and Colorado.
John brings more than 30 years of real estate, development and economic development experience to his brokerage practice. Over his career, he has been involved in commercial real estate transactions ranging from property acquisitions and dispositions to development sites, investment properties, land assemblages, leasing and urban redevelopment opportunities.
His approach to brokerage is informed by extensive experience on both sides of the real estate transaction. John has advised developers and property owners on site acquisition, entitlements, financing, public-private partnerships and redevelopment strategy, giving iMPAX clients a broader perspective on a property’s potential, constraints and value. Earlier in his career, he worked with entrepreneurs to identify and acquire locations, secure financing and, as their businesses grew, sell and acquire subsequent properties.
John founded Lucero Development Services in 2009 and subsequently served as Deputy Director of the Denver Office of Economic Development, where his responsibilities encompassed business and real estate development, housing, workforce development and major economic-development initiatives. Following his City service, he returned to Lucero Development Services and founded iMPAX Real Estate Group in 2018 to provide experienced relationship-driven commercial brokerage representation.
Today, John works with the iMPAX team on acquisitions, dispositions, off-market opportunities, development sites and other commercial assignments, drawing upon long-standing relationships throughout Colorado’s real estate, business and civic communities. He also brings particular expertise in historic and landmark properties, including preservation strategy, designation, adaptive reuse, and the unique considerations involved in their acquisition and redevelopment.
John’s public-sector experience provides an additional dimension to his real estate practice. In addition to his leadership role with the Denver Office of Economic Development, he served for 14 years as a Commissioner of the Denver Board of Water Commissioners. His combination of private-sector, public-sector and brokerage experience provides a broad understanding of the regulatory, infrastructure, financing and governmental considerations that can influence commercial real estate.
John has been actively involved in the REALTOR® organization for more than three decades at the local, state and national levels. His service has included leadership on housing, water, legislative and political issues affecting real estate practitioners and property owners. He has served as a Federal Political Coordinator assigned to three United States Senators and has been recognized by the National Association of REALTORS®, Colorado Association of REALTORS® and Denver Metro Association of REALTORS® for his contributions to the profession.

John attended Colorado State University, where he studied civil engineering, providing an early technical foundation for his career and lifelong interest in real estate development. His engineering studies continue to inform his understanding of the physical, infrastructure and development considerations that shape real estate projects.
Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with family, golf, hosting multi-course dinners for long-term friends, gardening and international travel. A longtime Colorado sports fan, he is a season ticket holder and can frequently be found at Colorado Avalanche and Denver Broncos home games.
